  • Novus Swell S2W33: Carissa Moore

I sat down with just recently turned 18 years old, Carissa Moore to talk about her exciting life as a pro surfer. She's been having an amazing season as a surfer and as a teenager. In spite of all the fame she is staying very humble and she is still the same Carissa. She has accomplished so much already but i know she is going to accomplish so much more in the future.

    Enjoy the video!

  • Thank you Carissa Moore - Crazy boat trying to run over a parasailing boat!
I have been getting lot of emails asking me to do a webisode on Carissa Moore. you asked for it, you get it!

Carissa is home now (she's traveling a lot these days so she's hardly ever home.) and she made some time for me to sit down and talk with me yesterday. so her webisode is coming to Novus Swell real soon!

Thank you Carissa for making time to sit down with me!

After talking with Carissa, i decided to film her surfing. the waves weren't the greatest but she was ripping out there.

i'm so glad i was filming because this happened...

a crazy boat came from no where going super fast by the lineup. That's Carissa on the left and our friend Davin Jaime on the right. I thought the crazy boat was gonna run them over!

The guy would turn around super fast doing figure eight flying towards the parasailing boat.

look at it, the crazy boat was getting super close to running over the parasailing boat with customers on board.

and he was doing that over and over!

when i was leaving the beach, i saw a couple of police cars by the parasailing office. i stopped to ask them if they were reporting about the crazy guy and told them i got the whole thing on video.

the guys at the parasailing place were stoked i got it on video. i guess the cops thought the story was over exaggerated but when they saw the footage, they were tripping out!

according the police, there were numerus reports on this crazy guy chasing down random boats trying to hit them that day.

i'm taking a copy of the video today so the coast guard can do their investigation.

so glad i was filming yesterday and captured the whole incident. hope my video will help identify and put the mad man to jail!

Please be safe out there everyone. i guess we got more than just sharks to worry about when we surf now.

A slight pulse in the swell provided excellent small waves as the blue ribbon Boys 16 division hit the water at the Rip Curl GromSearch at Duranbah Beach. Local surfers managed to dominate today lead by Bilinga’s Mitch Duggan who posted two impressive heat wins and included the day’s top scoring ride with a 9.16 and that wave was eventually awarded the SNICKERS wave of the day!

Ho Ho Surf Off finalizes ESA season in cold conditions PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 16 December 2008 14:37

Cold isn't really an adequate word to describe the conditions at the 2008 Ho Ho Surf Off held at North Side Indian River Inlet last Saturday, December 13th. With stiff northwest winds and temperatures in the morning at the freezing mark and barely topping out at a high of 40 during the day, area surfers quickly realized that staying warm was going to have to be a major part of their competitive strategy. Thankfully, the Delaware Park Service arranged an exception to their normal beach policy and allowed a bonfire for the shivering, wet contestants to warm up around in between heats.

Local bet Jay-R Esquivel put on an impressive show to beat last year’s champion Philmar Alipayo of Siargao in the closely-contest final of the 2008 Billabong Grommet Surfing Championship recently. The 12-year-old Esquivel used a combination of hacks, turns, floaters and aerials as the South China Sea dished out 4-foot waves that pounded in the sandy bottom beach of San Juan, La Union.
