Novus Swell was started to highlight Hawaii grom surfers. It was originally started as an online magazine but we found out you kids don't read the articles but just watching the videos... so we've decided to do videos episodes (webisodes). Enjoy and let us know how we can improve! -- Kaz Sano --
I sat down with just recently turned 18 years old, Carissa Moore to talk about her exciting life as a pro surfer. She's been having an amazing season as a surfer and as a teenager. In spite of all the fame she is staying very humble and she is still the same Carissa. She has accomplished so much already but i know she is going to accomplish so much more in the future.
After being hot and sweaty working on the camry, time to cool off at the beach! Kailee, Kelly and Cayla were ready to surf too! Small waves so Kailee and Kelly are longboarding today!
I have been getting lot of emails asking me to do a webisode on Carissa Moore. you asked for it, you get it!
Carissa is home now (she's traveling a lot these days so she's hardly ever home.) and she made some time for me to sit down and talk with me yesterday. so her webisode is coming to Novus Swell real soon!

After talking with Carissa, i decided to film her surfing. the waves weren't the greatest but she was ripping out there.
i'm so glad i was filming because this happened...
a crazy boat came from no where going super fast by the lineup. That's Carissa on the left and our friend Davin Jaime on the right. I thought the crazy boat was gonna run them over!
The guy would turn around super fast doing figure eight flying towards the parasailing boat.
look at it, the crazy boat was getting super close to running over the parasailing boat with customers on board.
and he was doing that over and over!
when i was leaving the beach, i saw a couple of police cars by the parasailing office. i stopped to ask them if they were reporting about the crazy guy and told them i got the whole thing on video.
the guys at the parasailing place were stoked i got it on video. i guess the cops thought the story was over exaggerated but when they saw the footage, they were tripping out!
according the police, there were numerus reports on this crazy guy chasing down random boats trying to hit them that day.
i'm taking a copy of the video today so the coast guard can do their investigation.
so glad i was filming yesterday and captured the whole incident. hope my video will help identify and put the mad man to jail!
Please be safe out there everyone. i guess we got more than just sharks to worry about when we surf now.

Wow, how much?
We all know all airlines take advantage of us surfers by charging us so much money for taking our surfboards when we fly. The worst part about living in Hawaii is, where ever we want to go, we NEED to fly.
NSSA Nationals and Surfing America Nationals are coming up and i know everyone's trying to find the cheapest tickets to get to California.
BUT WAIT! Even if you find a ticket for cheap on one airline, you might end up spending more paying for your boards.
Here's a list of airlines and what they charge you for your surfboards between Hawaii and California to make your life little bit easier!

I spent a day with Kelia "Sister" Moniz, Joy Haynes, and Jenna Forti this past Sunday. There's never a dull moment hanging with these surfer girls and their surfer friends. Check out the video to find out what i'm talking about!

There haven't been any good waves lately, so Sister (Kelia Moniz) has been planning some fun stuff for bunch of kids to do. This past 2 weeks have been the Water Reservoir! Don't ask me why it's there, cuz I have no idea... but it's a super fun huge ultimate water slide!
Novus Swell S2E14: Access Surf Hawaii "Day at the Beach!"

There was no contest this past weekend so I invited surfer kids to come join me at Access Surf Hawaii's "Day at the Beach" event. Access Surf takes people with disabilities out surfing and swimming for a day of fun every 1st Saturday of a month.
I was expecting maybe 10 kids coming to volunteer but there were about 30 kids who showed up! 7am to 2pm they all worked hard and no one kid complained the whole day. We all had a great day! Thanks you all the kids and thank you Access Surf for having us!

The first South Swell of the year came early this year! The swell showed up on the 20th and the waves stayed good for almost 4 days. Maybe be little too big for some groms but older kids were out there having fun. I filmed Bowls, Big Rights, and Kewalos. Here are some highlights from the swell featuring Kaito Kino, Buddy Wiggins, Cole Yamakawa, Alisha Gonsalves, Isaiah Moniz, and Ezekiel Lau.

Just uploaded the new video webisode! NSSA Hawaii Regionals was held at Kewalos last week. The waves were challenging but kids were out there surfing really well.
